Terms of Service

How bookings work at Marrow & Vine, what we ask of you, what you can expect from us, and what happens if something goes wrong.

last updated 1 August 2026

These terms cover this website and any booking you make with us. "Marrow & Vine", "we" and "us" mean the restaurant on Cotham Hill in Bristol. Using the site means you accept what follows. If you would rather not, the phone still works.

Bookings

A booking is confirmed when we confirm it — by phone or by return email. Nothing on this site holds a table on its own.

Tables are held for two hours. If your party is running late, call and we will hold the table for fifteen minutes past the booked time. After that we may have to give it away, because the room is small and the evening is usually full.

The twelve counter seats are not bookable. They are kept back for walk-ins at every service, including the busy ones.

Cancellations and no-shows

Cancel by phone or email at any point up to the day before and there is nothing to settle. For tables of six or more we take a card number when you book and charge £20 a head for a no-show or a cancellation on the day. We do not charge for a table you cancelled in good time, and we will not charge you for weather, illness or a train that never came — tell us and it is fine.

Prices and the menu

Prices on this site are what we charge, and the menu is rewritten on the first of every month. Between menus, dishes come and go: fish depends on what the day boats land and some things are made in one batch and sell out. The board in the restaurant is the final word.

Prices include VAT. We do not add a service charge to the bill.

Allergens and dietary requirements

Tell us when you book and we will cook around it. The kitchen is one room and one fire, and gluten, dairy, nuts, fish, shellfish, celery and mustard are all used in it daily, so we cannot promise any dish is free of traces of a given allergen. What we will do is tell you honestly what is in a dish and what we can change. If an allergy is severe, talk to us before you book rather than on the night.

Gift vouchers

Vouchers are valid for twelve months from the date of issue, can be used against anything we serve, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be replaced if lost.

The site itself

The words, photographs and design on this site belong to us. Read them, link to them, screenshot the menu for whoever you are trying to persuade. Do not republish them as your own or run scrapers against the site.

We try to keep the menu, hours and prices current here, and occasionally we are slow updating them after a change.

Where we stand if something goes wrong

We are responsible for the food we cook, the way we run the room and the way we handle your information. We are not responsible for a site we link to, or for the site being unavailable.

Nothing here limits our liability for anything the law does not allow us to limit, including death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Changes

We update these terms when the way we work changes, and the date at the top changes with them. The terms in force when you book are the terms that apply to that booking.
